Las Vegas is known for the bright lights of the strip. But look a bit farther; there’s something special about the desert landscape that stretches on toward the horizon. While it may appear desolate, it’s teeming with life—reptiles, rodents and birds abound—even bighorn sheep and coyote.
The dry environment isn’t as naturally suited for the number of humans that now call the city home. And with rapid growth continuing, the associated water and transportation challenges are increasingly complex.
